Title : I LOVE RACHMANIOFF.Saturday, January 15, 2011 : 8:48 PMGAH, I just realized I have always sound so pessimistic in the previous posts.. Sorry if i had hurt your precious feelings, but for the record, that is my usual skeptical self :DSo I see you're reading the page instead of looking at your score and revising your parts huh! With less than 3 months, sop one has to buck up big time. So before you sleep, just do a few leg lifts and a few crunches are sufficient. A few leg lifts and crunches a day, keeps the fats away. Lots of love from the abstruse -Germ, Title : Altercations.Wednesday, January 12, 2011 : 8:38 PMAh, its a new year I see. It seemed almost like yesterday we came back from Hong kong.Well, we apparently have one new member (so far) and our main priority is to finish learning the set piece and get on with the other undecided songs. With the sudden paroxysm of insolence coming from the members of the choir, coming late, not bringing scores, etc. , our discipline has become of dirt. Hence, the well-mannered and well-disciplined sop ones shall show those urchins how it should be done right? Everyone is important. With not more than 3 months away from SYF, we must have the full strength of sop one in every practice. By hook or by crook, come for practice. Remember, there are only 2 types of choirs in the world. A well disciplined and successful choir, and An ill-disciplined and sub-standard choir. And sadly we fall in the latter. You wouldn't want a bronze of COP on your testimonial do you. So we can start igniting change, from yourselves, and then to other people around you. In short, use your brains. -Huff and puff, germ Title : SECTION OUTINGThursday, November 25, 2010 : 10:39 PMHi sop ones :DAs you know, our section outing will be at EAST COAST PARK, TUESDAY, 30 NOVEMBER We will meet at BEDOK MRT STATION AT 10Am Bring your swimming attire if you wish to swim, and AT LEAST $30. YAY! PLEASE SEND ME AN SMS OR TAG IN THIS BLOG :D Title : This is odd.Monday, November 22, 2010 : 5:47 PMGreetings fellow subjects, It is at my greatest pleasure to announce that there is choir tomorrow, from 9-1 pm. The practice is to get a taste of what the new syf piece, the wind, is. So as it is, we're not done yet with practices yet. Farewell, Germ Title : POWER SOPS!Saturday, November 20, 2010 : 10:50 PMOmg I am speechless right now, all at once, our effort has been proven to not be wasted. You guys are seriously AWESOME and Musical Evening shall just be a stepping stone for us the Powersops to prove our worth! I really really love you guys (And the crazy time we had in the dressing room) :DDD, so continue to sing well, smile more when singing and don't ever forget this experience. One thing's for sure, Phoebe's a very cranky make-up artist, Kylie can somehow appear in every picture and getting hair-spray in your eyes will hurt. It has been an AMAZING day with you guys, so go have a good sleep and eat all the fried ice cream or haagen daz or ben and jerrys you guys want :DD -On a cloud nine, Germ Title : One night stand...Friday, November 19, 2010 : 5:34 PMOne more night and its the big day :DDDrink lots of water, sleep early and do your breath flow! Pack in your gown, court shoes, make up and scores NOW. -sleeping early for once since the holidays started, Germ Title : 8 DAYS AND COUNTINGFriday, November 12, 2010 : 2:43 PMWE ARE OFFICIALLY 8 DAYS AWAY FROM MUSICAL EVENING!!It seemed like just yesterday we came back from Hong Kong, time really does fly ;D Do look through your scores everyday, memorise the lyrics, dynamics, and the other things you used to refuse to remember. Do your leg exercises, breath flow and try opening your mouth in front of the mirror :DD So its time to prep up for the big day and don't let your voice slip! Drink lots of water (With honey!!) and rest well, -Dying of boredom, Germ Title : Salve reginaSunday, November 7, 2010 : 3:03 PMTitle : Ant's summer: 3:02 PMTitle : DOUCHEMonday, November 1, 2010 : 5:23 PMwhee.. I'm high now :D Okay.. Well Open house wasn't that bad though it was demoralizing to know that no one could hear us, even at the booth a few meters away :(*Sighs*We'll just have to concentrate on Musical Evening now, and I'd rather practices be the whole day so we can have section lunch !? Instead of threatening to change the website of this blog into the name of some guy who plays tennis, I think we need a new blog skin, desperately! *Cries for Mei Jun* Remember to squeeze your butts when you feel you're running out of air, raise your eyebrows and cheekbones and open your mouth (I have problems for this o.o) :D -In a disparagement, Germ Title : pratiques de vacances: 5:20 PM
20/11 (Sat) - To be confirmed Title : I have no idea what to put as title.Friday, October 22, 2010 : 9:05 PMGreetings small ones, the exams are over and its time to get down and dirty *Shrugs*To strain our voices and make our throats sore is the ultimate torture to prepare us for the biannual school musical evening, Just like Glee, except our voices won't be dubbed :D The exams have turned me into a megalomaniac and I can't seem to figure out how surviving the next two years in this school can be possible. Sure the results were pretty disappointing, can't help feeling stupid after seeing my level standard. But Im sure singing till our voices break shall cheer me up :D So back to where I originally started , cept' for the fact I kept going out of point* MUSICAL EVENING IS IN LESS THAN ONE MONTH'S TIME. We have basically learned all the songs: Salve Regina, Every time I feel the spirit, Ant's summer and Climb every mountain. And there's still lots to do, dynamics, and for goodness sake, pronounce the words properly, articulate the vowels and not shallow speaking. We're running out of time and we have to perfect everything by the rehearsal which is in 2 weeks, at the rate we're working, maybe not. So stay focused during practice (Thats always been a problem for me o.o) and bring a freaking pen with you so you won't piss Mrs L off. Jot down what she says and don't forget the next second you're asked to sing. There are 101 things to do before and when you sing, and not one should be forgotten. Because choristers worth their salt would know that singing needs both the heart and the mind. Way to go, brains and brawns. -Perplexed, Germ
Title : Dogma it is.Monday, September 13, 2010 : 6:52 PMBooya, School has started and barely for three days, I am so tired. But its not like we were given a choice to, so we'll just have to stick to this dogma. Well we've started on the new song, Every time I feel the spirit. For those who went for choir last thursday, *ahem*Where were the rest of you?* , should know that this song ain't as simple as it sounds. There are lots of tricky sections and we aren't the ones singing the melody the whole time. So our poor section ( with only 6 people) had to suffer the wrath of the high notes and man were we struggling to even get the notes right. Personally I find this song more difficult than Ants summer. Does that sound like bad news? Great. We have more to do then. Heres one for you: I hope that what it comes down to at the end of the day is that people believe that I believe what I'm singing. It comes down to being believable. You don't have to be likeable; generally, though, I think I am. John Mayer xoxo germ Title : Climb Ev'ry Mountain and Vowels and SpiritsTuesday, September 7, 2010 : 5:58 PMHI PEOPLE!!Today was rather tiring, we mostly did "Climb Ev'ry Mountain". Of course, there are tons of things that Mrs Lim ask us to take note of. So, if you are absent or not very sure of some of them, please write them down in either your CHOIR DIARY or your SCORE itself. 1. Sing in one phrase [4 bars phrase](e.g climb ev'ry mountain search high and low) Don't breathe in between mountain and search. However, don't hold too long on one word, take note of the word change just think legato. 2. Always expand your ribcage, lift your eyebrows and cheekbones. 3. When you reach letter B in your score, sing louder but not sooo loud 4. Put in the EXTREME articulation, here are some that Mrs Lim keeps talking about: Climb--> Klaimb Dream--> DRRReem Ford--> Fawrd Follow--> Focus on the fffff 5. Please don't drop your note (the red one in the example) on every last note of the 4 bar phrase (e.g climb ev'ry mountain Ford Ev'ry stream) 6. Page 7 bar 2 "Ford ev'ry stream" MUST think LOWER 7. Page 8 "For as long as you live", the "live" please be more relaxed, don't keep forcing and hold your note, STAGGER your BREATH and FLOAT the SOUND, must also sound HAPPY and FREE!! 8. OK, next is the VOWELS RULE, use this rule whenever you sing ANYTHING!! : sing 'a' as the "a" in 'haha' or ‘妈妈’ 'e' as the "e" in 'elephant' or 'eh' 'i' as the 'i' in 'is' (ignore the 's') 'o' as the 'a' in 'law' or 'awe' 'u' as the 'oo' or 'ou' in 'you' or 'food' Of course, if the vowels are in a word, don't distort the word until no one can understand what we are singing about BUT if the vowels are at the end or the start of that particular word, use this rule. When using this rule, you MUST always use your hard pallet, cheekbones and eyebrows. SING BEAUTIFULLY and remember: "A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song." we have a song too, so SING!! Lastly, in case if you cant find the "everytime I feel the spirit", here is the link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvn3YSsSSg4&feature=related ( I think this is the one). Do listen to the other version too because I am not so sure about the exact specified song that we will be singing. That's all from me -Elaine♥

Take note the things that Mrs Lim said during our last practice, the Climb Ev'ry Mountain. Not sure of the tune, go youtube it or play the notes yourself. You are already in secondary, HELLO... ^^ That's all from Me and have a happy e-learning week! ^^ -Elaine♥
Title : NO SECTION FUND ALLOWEDThursday, August 19, 2010 : 3:19 PMSorry, but we can't really have a section fund because there is no one to hold the money. And I don't think Rui Ting will allow. A lot of people also think that $20 is a bit too expensive. So, I think we just need to pay the $15.-Elaine
Title : EUREKA!Tuesday, August 17, 2010 : 9:33 PMWoots, finally we've made up our minds. So the design shall be #2 but the font on the back be #1's font. ok.Design aside, I need the money !? The tee shouldn't cost above $15. So please bring just in case, $20 and maybe the remainder can be used as "section fund" :D So Pull up your socks and you know that musical evening is round the corner, so do take note of whatever Mrs Lim mentioned during sectionals, which she blatantly repeated during the combines :S So please get the pronunciation and dynamics done by thursday, I don't ask for much, cuz we apparently have salve new and old to do + climb every -Germ Title : Way you work your tongue I hire youSaturday, August 7, 2010 : 1:46 PMYAY!
