Title : Climb Ev'ry Mountain and Vowels and SpiritsTuesday, September 7, 2010 : 5:58 PMHI PEOPLE!!Today was rather tiring, we mostly did "Climb Ev'ry Mountain". Of course, there are tons of things that Mrs Lim ask us to take note of. So, if you are absent or not very sure of some of them, please write them down in either your CHOIR DIARY or your SCORE itself. 1. Sing in one phrase [4 bars phrase](e.g climb ev'ry mountain search high and low) Don't breathe in between mountain and search. However, don't hold too long on one word, take note of the word change just think legato. 2. Always expand your ribcage, lift your eyebrows and cheekbones. 3. When you reach letter B in your score, sing louder but not sooo loud 4. Put in the EXTREME articulation, here are some that Mrs Lim keeps talking about: Climb--> Klaimb Dream--> DRRReem Ford--> Fawrd Follow--> Focus on the fffff 5. Please don't drop your note (the red one in the example) on every last note of the 4 bar phrase (e.g climb ev'ry mountain Ford Ev'ry stream) 6. Page 7 bar 2 "Ford ev'ry stream" MUST think LOWER 7. Page 8 "For as long as you live", the "live" please be more relaxed, don't keep forcing and hold your note, STAGGER your BREATH and FLOAT the SOUND, must also sound HAPPY and FREE!! 8. OK, next is the VOWELS RULE, use this rule whenever you sing ANYTHING!! : sing 'a' as the "a" in 'haha' or ‘妈妈’ 'e' as the "e" in 'elephant' or 'eh' 'i' as the 'i' in 'is' (ignore the 's') 'o' as the 'a' in 'law' or 'awe' 'u' as the 'oo' or 'ou' in 'you' or 'food' Of course, if the vowels are in a word, don't distort the word until no one can understand what we are singing about BUT if the vowels are at the end or the start of that particular word, use this rule. When using this rule, you MUST always use your hard pallet, cheekbones and eyebrows. SING BEAUTIFULLY and remember: "A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song." we have a song too, so SING!! Lastly, in case if you cant find the "everytime I feel the spirit", here is the link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvn3YSsSSg4&feature=related ( I think this is the one). Do listen to the other version too because I am not so sure about the exact specified song that we will be singing. That's all from me -Elaine♥
