Title : things to take note:)Thursday, June 17, 2010 : 4:45 AMhi darlings below are some things which mrs lim mentioned during sessions which are extremely important so please do take note.Virita Criosa first page: at the last bars, be very accurate about the timings. from bar 25 to 40, please please emphasise on the crescendo. this song consists of many vowels for which we should articulate clearly and for the high notes, sing with extra support x 10000000 so that we'll not go sharp or screech. and be together! always try to blend in with the person on your side. Salve Regina (our fav!) Mrs lim mentioned strongly about the pronunciations. here are some that we should rmb. all the 'e' s must be sang as 'eh'. like 'regina' is 'reh-gee-nah' 'cor' is really 'kaur'. she also said many times that c should be sang as k. 'dul' is 'doool' for some parts that do not have 's's after them, do not sing wrongly! sal-ve is 'salrrr-veh'. 't's are 'd's. like 'te' is really 'deh' all the 'u's should be 'oo's. Hs are silent. like, 'He-vae' is really 'eh-veh' on page 2, bar 18, is the song's first climax. expand ribcage. the 'filii hevae' from bar 18-19 should be together. take note of mrs lim's conducting very closely. and bar 19, MUST emphasise on the crescendo. from bar 21 to 24, we must take note of the phrasing. apparently 'sus-pi-ra-mus' is a word, 'ge-men-tes' is a word, 'in-hac' is a word. mrs lim said when we sing them, try to link them together and try yr best not to breathe in between. for this song, especially the notes on this page, every single one of them must be consistent. remember also to cut when yr supposed to. bar 25-27, the rests in between the 'in-hac's are meant to intensify the intensity. so must take note when to stop. expression and color of the tone should be changed accordingly. bar 31, this is our second climax. val-le is one word so remember to join them together. when singing the 'val' remember to breathe before so that you'll have enough breath to sustain. sing with support! when you reach the 'le', the sound should become lighter, voices should blend more. 'e-ja-er-go' should be sang in a decisive tone. ths is the third climax. sing strong with power. remember we're the powah sops! the rest after the 'e-ja-er-go' should also be noted. btw i realise some of the juniors are still unfamiliar with 'ja's pronunciation. it is 'ya'. the rest by right should be okay. we must put our best efforts in perfecting the song! at bar 65, 'de' should really shine through. think of the very angelic mother mary with a halo on her head. bar 67, the 'clemens' must cut off on time. from bar 72 onwards, we should anchor and take note of when to breathe. everyone, especially the lower parts, should remember their parts for the last marias. Why we sing this seemingly easy song is catchy at first, but hard to perfect. few things to rmb: the softer the sound, the more you should articulate. bar 20, must hold for 4 counts. many of us die when we reach 4. sing with emotion and blend with the other sections. bar 32, rmb to hold 5 counts. bar 38, 'take my hand', open mouth big as 'take' is not 'teik' but 'tehk'. bar 39, ' and-sing', do not breathe suddenly in between these 2 words. many of us still do that and it's awkward. breathe enough air at bar 37. bar 47, 'have been torn apart' must be sang together. bar 49, DO NOT SING. bar 54-55, 'never ending gift', the 'gift' should not be held for too long. 'again' should be 'ah-gehnn', not 'er-gain'. please familiarise yrselves with correct english choral pronunciations. bar 103, sing super loud. today tis will be all. next, ant's summer and da hai and paru coming up! god bless, PB |
